Mohammad Al Bastaki
With an extensive background of over 18 years in various sectors of the banking industry, Mohammad Al Bastaki is a highly accomplished and well-rounded finance professional. Known for his strategic vision and exceptional leadership, he has consistently driven financial success and implemented innovative solutions throughout his illustrious career in the banking industry. Mohammad currently serves as the Group Head of Private Banking at Emirates NBD, a position he has held since August 2023, playing a pivotal role in steering the growth of the Bank’s Private Banking and Wealth Management Franchise.
Mohammad is at the forefront of managing the wealth of the bank’s high-net-worth clients and is dedicated to delivering exceptional financial solutions. In addition to leading the Private Banking sector, Mohammad holds key positions on the boards of Emirates NBD Securities, a prominent brokerage house in the UAE, as well as Emirates NBD Capital KSA, EII Capital and Emirates NBD Asset Management. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as the CEO of Emirates NBD Capital. In that capacity, he oversaw a pool of equity capital market transactions totaling more than USD 10 billion, raised USD 45.6 billion worth of debt for clients in primary markets, and led the execution of more than USD 50 billion worth of Bonds and Sukuks for clients.
His strategic contributions played a crucial role in landmark transactions, such as the second-largest IPO in the MENA region with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Saudi Aramco’s inaugural US dollar Sukuk sale, and the USD 9 billion refinancing deal of DP World. Under his astute leadership and guidance, Emirates NBD Capital achieved the number one spot in the MENAT Loans League Tables in 2022 and consistently ranks among the top five in the international Bond and Sukuk League Tables. Mohammad joined Emirates NBD in 2019 as the Head of Public Sector, Corporate and Institutional Banking, where he managed a portfolio of approximately AED 170 billion. Possessing a wealth of experience across the entire spectrum of banking services, Mohammad began his career at HSBC in 2006.
His roles at HSBC included Head of Business Banking, Regional Head of Client Acquisitions for the retail banking division, overseeing the MENAT launch for Employee Banking Services, and Director of Abu Dhabi Public Sector for the global banking division. Mohammad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai, UAE.
